Sony Pictures has a new trailer out for their upcoming CGI animated feature The Angry Birds Movie. Unlike the first trailer, which was just a series of sight gags, this one goes into a little more detail as to WHY these birds are so angry. And no, it’s not because of the script they just read.
Red was ostracized by the bird community for his giant eyebrows…I guess. Because of this he grew up angry and remains easily agitated to this day. Much of the same beats from the first trailer are repeated in this section, including the overly long “sign” joke which has been mercifully shortened now.
Then a bunch of green pigs arrive on the birds’ island via boat. Everybody welcomes them with open arms except for Red, who senses something untrustworthy about them — suspicions that prove correct. It’s up to him and his misfit friends to stop the pigs, expose their plan and save the bird colony.
We also finally get to see Peter Dinklage’s character, Giant Eagle, but we don’t get to hear his voice beyond a couple groans (and, also, his sole appearance is just one long pee joke).
The movie also stars Jason Sudeikis as Red, Josh Gad as Chuck, Danny McBride as Bomb, Bill Hader as the lead Pig, and Maya Rudolph as Matilda, along with Tony Hale, Kate McKinnon and a few others in supporting roles. The Angry Birds Movie comes out May 2016.
